Yeah, it's ok to talk about what burns you; personally this board has done so much for me, the being able to do the same. Someone has responded already that it's the Hoho mentality ito never address your own feelings, to bottle them up, and to only care about others. That's another completely imbalanced view of things sponsored by the WTS.
We're now free to get what we need: To care for others, AND express our feelings and ask for help, advice.

Dude, life IS finding your way through it. Everyone around you is only doing their best, not necessarily right or wrong. Be a little less hard on yourself and enjoy life. Use your experience as a Hoho as a lesson to accept everything and everyone around you without judgment.

so i was thinking about this today and wanted to see what you guys think about fading?
for a long time i thought that this was the way to go especially if you wanted to maintain certain relationships be it with family or friends but lately i'm not so sure that fading is the best way to go and here is why.. the stress of having to go to meetings is some times overwhelmingthe amount of time you waste going to meetings when you no longer believe is time you will never get back, time that could have been spent doing something that you really do love, life is short why waste it in the hall?
the end results are the same if you are dfed, daed or fade.
You gotta play it like you need to I think. What you say is all true. We faded from the local cong, and because we're out of state from family and close old friends we were able to keep up appearances to them via email and phone for over a year. It was tough.
They play games with you, you know, to test you, "how about that recent wt article on some inane topic that we're now experts on". "Yes yes, it was fabulous, I love the wt and Joe and the flower pots at the KH. Do you remember that time we were all in a drama 30 years ago? I so love dramas. In the new world we will have dramas and play with lions. Too bad for the apostates."
The family was always checking to see if we were worthy of their association by asking if we were attending, and we finally told them we were through with it--so if/when you do it be prepared to be verbally attacked in the worst possible way and divorced by parents & siblings. It is sad sometimes, to mourn losing family and friends but it's a relief to be open. We haven't DA'd.
i learned an interesting fact from my father's doctor when he was being treated for a stroke.
mom had mentioned that even though dad couldn't speak well enough to ask for a glass of water he could clearly say, "goddammit".
the dr. explained that epithets are from a different part of the brain and this area had not been affected by the stroke.. i found this very interesting.
I wonder if that's the same part of brain that makes someone with Tourette's Syndrome curse, when they don't usually.
